Racing into Motorsports Law
On May 11, 2011, Jason Fulk participated in a panel discussion on key legal aspects of the motorsports industry entitled "Racing into Motorsports Law" presented to the members of the Sagamore chapter of the American Inns of Court. Other panelists included: Tiffany Hemmer, Administration Director, INDYCAR; Doug Boles, Director of Public Relations, INDYCAR; Dave Mattingly, Ice Miller LLP; Judge Jeffrey Boles, Hendricks Circuit Court; and Cory McClenathan, Professional Driver, NHRA Top Fuel Dragster. Topics of discussion included: overviews of the relationships between sanctioning bodies, teams and drivers; the importance of effective risk allocation (releases, indemnity and insurance) and state legislation permitting the partial emancipation of minors for purposes of contracting to participate in motorsports events within the State of Indiana.
